Having a beautifully landscaped yard and a nice garden takes a lot of time and work. However, you can cut the time significantly with a few pieces of equipment. If you do not have the equipment, or want to spend the money buying something you will use once or twice a year, you can go to a rental company. This way, you will get the job done quickly. Here are just a few things you can rent in most cities.

Rototiller

One of the first things you may need to do is to till up the ground a bit. This will not only make the soil ready for grass, vegetable or flower seeds, but will also turn under any weeds you want to get rid of. You could go out there with a hoe and bucket, pulling weeds and loosening up the soil by hand, but that is going to be a lot of work, and may take a couple of weekends to get the job done if your yard is very big. Even a large yard can be tilled in one afternoon with a rented rototiller.

Skid-Steer Loader with Backhoe

If you have ever tried to dig a small pond or the trenches for a new irrigation system, you know it is back-breaking work. To make the job easier, saving your back and being able to enjoy at least part of the weekend, rent a skid-steer loader with backhoe. You will be able to dig the hole or trenches and move the dirt to wherever it is needed while sitting in the operator's seat. You can even have a drink or a sandwich while working the controls with one hand.

Hand Tools

It is not everyone who is going to have a post-hole digger, and the different saws needed to construct and install a deck off the back of the house. While these tools are not as expensive as the bigger ones previously mentioned, they can add up if you need more than a couple. Rental companies are not just for big items; they carry all the small tools at a reasonable price.

Save yourself a lot of hard work and time by renting the tools and equipment you need to turn your yard into whatever you want. The money you save by not buying these items can be used to purchase more seeds, lumber, and a birdbath if you like.
